Kharma - she's no friend of mine

I've pretty much known this day was coming for quite some time and totally do deserve what I got, but I honestly just didn't think the day would be here already.

A little short history of me and kharma. Let's take a trip back to almost 7 years ago on New Year's Eve 2005 just a month after me and husband met. He was having a big party at his house (this was the norm back then - complete with a keg and wop or jungle juice, I know - we're classy) and had invited me and some of my friends to come. I totally planned on going and told him that I was going the whole time and then about 6/7 on NYE I told him that I was going to just stay at home. He wasn't too pleased and didn't understand why all of a sudden I didn't want to come. I had also told my friends of my plan to tell him we're not going and then showing up and surprising him. My friends and I went to a nightclub for about 2 hours and then headed down to Chris's house. I had to stop at a gas station (for whatever reason) and ended up locking my keys in my running car. Crap! I had to call a locksmith to come get them out (not cheap, especially on NYE). Got keys out and continued to Chris's house. We got there, he was happy to see me but I know he was still not too happy about what I did. I guess one of my friends whose brother lived with Chris had told his brother of the plan and Chris knew we were coming. I told him about the keys being locked in my car and how I had to pay $100 to get them out and he just said it was kharma for not coming to his party.

This technically isn't from NYE 2005, but it is from about a month later. My hubby looks sooo different with facial hair and my hair was short! This is before we went to my Christmas party for work in January 2006.
Fast forward a few months later, I want to say summer 2006, where Chris and I were still in our "new couple" happiness (still love him to pieces!). We were laying around watching TV and I always tickled him since it was so easy to get him to squirm (I'm not very ticklish). He was laying on his stomach and I decided it was a brilliant idea to tickle the back of his foot, so I did and his natural reaction was to kick his foot up and nailed me in my eye/nose. He felt soooo bad and I was just laughing hysterically at it all. Turns out, I got a black eye from  his kick. Also turns out I had plans to meet with my parents the next night for dinner. I did meet my parents for dinner and despite my slight attempt to cover up my black eye they could still easily see it. My dad just asked if I deserved it (super sweet dad) and I explained what happened. I'm pretty sure nobody suspected anything, but it was still a little awkward to explain to friends, family, co-workers what had happened. I guess I deserved it since I was constantly tickling hubby then...not so much anymore :)

And now onto today's little mis-hap. Chris had just left for work and I was changing little Miss Bailey in the living room before I was going to sit down and cuddle with her to get her to sleep. Mid-diaper change a huge explosion of poop comes shooting out and sprays all over my pants, shirt, robe, carpet, and the little cloth under her. I've been warning Chris to wait before he changes her when we hear her poop because often times she will go again a few minutes later. I didn't hear her poop, just knew she needed  a change. I guess I deserved this. After my post yesterday where I noted how Bailey pooped in his hands during our photo shoot, and my comments to Andrea about pooping babies - I really deserve it. Kharma doesn't mess around.

Andrea's comment on my blog post from yesterday

And I'm pretty sure this little princess is just plotting her next poop spray incident with mommy. I still love her to pieces - poop spray and all :)

yes, her little outfit does say "Little Sister." It's the only one they had at Target and she loves this style of sleeper and with a full-length zipper mommy and daddy love it too!

Happy Poopday Tuesday!

the good, the bad & the ugly

Let me start by saying that ultimately my weekend was great and I had a ton of fun seeing my family...but there were a few less than stellar moments :)

You can link-up too with Kati and Kate

The Good: We got to see my bro and his family on Thanksgiving. They make one trip to the cities/year and we make one trip to Minot, ND/year so it's always good to see them

The Bad: My niece and nephew (the younger of the 2 on that side) are great kids, but when they're amped up on a sugar high, throw in my parent's dog who barks constantly in a shrill high pitched bark and they're a little much for aunt Becky. Especially when there's a week old baby in the house...

The Ugly: To say my hubby took one for the team this weekend is probably the understatement of the year. This was how he spent his whole afternoon/evening at my parent's house on Thursday.

Human jungle gym and favorite person to play games against
The Good: I took my bro and s-i-l to Costco to get a few things on Friday night. I also picked up a nice, comfy electric blanket. It's soooo cozy!
Hubs and Bailey testing out the new blanket,  I'd say it  passes the nap test
The Bad: I also picked up these. I had granola bars in my cart and decided that Jelly Bellys were a better option for the same price (seriously, I paid under $12 for 4lbs of jelly beans - unheard of!)

The Ugly: I can't quit eating the Jelly Bellys and my hubby doesn't seem to be as obsessed with them as I am. The only answer is to keep eating them until they're gone or maybe that's just my solution :)

The Good: We got Bailey's newborn pics done on Saturday morning. She did great and slept the whole time like little babies are supposed to during the newborn shoot. I can't wait to see/share them!

The Bad: I realized on the way to the photo shoot that we were bad parents and completely forgot the diaper bag. Whoops! Pulled into Walgreens and got diapers and wipes and shoved them in my purse. Get to photo shoot and get Bailey out, and see the diaper bag sitting on the floor under her car seat. Oh well, at least we were only a couple minutes late~

The Ugly: When we were taking a picture with Bailey, Chris was holding her and she pooped in his hand. It was pretty hilarious and I'm sure there will be some really great pics of me laughing hysterically at my husband's expense

The Good: My fridge got a squeaky clean make-over!

The Bad: Said make-over was brought on by the fridge/freezer not working on Saturday afternoon so everything had to be removed from it and brought outside which then lead to a deep cleaning session. It's working now, but I'm not sure for how long or how well.

The Ugly: I think some water has been leaking and the wood floor near the fridge feels wavy so this may ultimately lead to replacing floors at some point in the future.

The Good: I got to spend all day (after sleeping in until 10:00 Sunday morning!) hanging with my favorite little girl. We cleaned, did laundry, and ate way too many jelly beans had a visitor (Jen) stop by to see us

The Bad: Well, maybe only one of us did the cleaning and laundry. The other one slept, ate and pooped/peed all day. She also had company with the sleeping part. You take a guess of who did what...
Kirby loves the boppy and loves to lay by me and Bailey when we're feeding

The Ugly: Hubby had to work all day Sunday. I know he needs to work so we can continue to pay our bills, but we sure do miss him a lot when he's gone! At least he doesn't work all day today and we can all hang out together!

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving weekend and didn't have too many bad and ugly moments!

Happy Thanksgiving

This year, my world has been turned around (for the better!) and I am so incredibly thankful for the beautiful little girl that is smiling while sleeping in her little bouncer chair next to me.

I like to have my picture taken, especially when you get my good side

My husband and I have said so many times throughout my pregnancy how we can't believe that you can love someone so much and not have even met them yet. She is here now and we are still saying the same thing (obviously we've met her). We can't quit putting everything else in life aside just to hold her, watch her make little adorable faces, kiss her, and snuggle her as much as possible. It's been a whirlwind of a week, but it's been so much fun to see our little family grow and adjust to this little 7 pound bundle of joy.
I'm ready for my turkey dinner!
Other things that I'm thankful for this year:
-that the weather is beautiful and my brother and his family and my dad are able to travel safely 8 and a half hours to come to the cities for Thanksgiving
-that Bailey decided breastfeeding isn't so bad and has made an incredible turnaround from the first day. It was extremely stressful for the whole family, but she's feeding like a champ now :)
-that Oscar and Kirby love their baby sister and are so good around her
-for the amazing friends and family that have more than spoiled us in the last week. We've had lots of visitors, food, gifts and love brought to our home
-that my family, friends, fur babies and myself are in good health
-that I am not in the hospital over Thanksgiving (seriously one of the biggest fears I had about having a due date so close to Thanksgiving!)
-my job, home, and all of the luxuries that I am able to enjoy
-to have made great connections with fellow MN Bloggers. I love following their blogs and being able to relate to so many of them on differing levels
-to be leaving in minutes to go enjoy some amazing food, family and relaxation time!

I'm so precious!

I hope all of you have a great weekend doing whatever you're doing! I have so many things I want/need to blog about, but I just haven't had a chance to get it written. I hope next week I can get these thoughts and stories into this blog!

Weekend Recap

I know, I know - it seems like I'm a day late with this post but since I didn't work yesterday I consider this my "Monday"

Friday:
- I went to Target after work to try and check my BP (they don't have a monitor, in case you're ever looking for one) and while there I decided to look at camcorders since I really want to get one for the baby. I walked into the electronics dept and a few ladies were chatting and one of them asked if she could touch my belly and commented on how I looked soooo cute! Before I could process or respond - there her hands were, plopped right on my belly! I have avoided this awkwardness all through my pregnancy, but I guess I couldn't go the whole way through without a stranger touching my belly.
I wish I would've had this, but I honestly don't think it would've helped me!

- Afterwards, I decided to walk to GNC next door to see if they might have a BP monitor (they don't) - I figured, what the heck it's right here. One lady working in the store (no customers), who apparently is 24 weeks pregnant with her 2nd child. I spent a good 15-20 minutes talking to her all about her kid and her current pregnancy. Super nice lady, but I kind of just wanted to be on my way...
- I finally ended up at Cub (they have a BP monitor!) and checked my BP. It was high and I was disappointed/scared/nervous. As much as I was hoping to have a baby this weekend, I don't want to be induced for high BP/preeclampsia.

Saturday:
- I spent 45 minutes on hold trying to get through to my clinic/hospital's nurse line to talk to them about my high BP/signs of preeclampsia. I felt fine, but wasn't sure if I should come in for an official reading and/or bloodwork. I finally gave up on waiting on the phone and decided to just go on with my Saturday plans.
- I packed up the monkeys and we headed to grandma and grandpa's (my parents) house. We went out to lunch, went to Cabella's to get my brother's Christmas present, did some other Christmas shopping and then came home to have a walleye dinner - yum!
- Afterwards, we baked some cookies for when my bro is here for Thanksgiving next week (holy crap it's already Thanksgiving!!). Quality control was in full effect by all 3 of us. luckily we made double batches of everything! It was a lot of fun to hang out with my parents and cross a few gifts off my list.

Sunday:
- I was going to go to MOA to get a few things, but one of the stores I was headed to had closed down there and the only one left was at Albertville. I really didn't want to go out there since I was practically there on Saturday, but I really wanted to get some stuff from that store. Off to Albertville I went! It was very successful and I got a ton of presents completed or half way completed from my Christmas list. A little bit of a scary moment on the way there when a guy ran a red light and nearly t-boned me, which then made me start crying thinking of the fact that me and baby could've been injured/in the hospital. Always scary, but even scarier with a baby on board!
- On the way home I decided Schlotzsky's for lunch sounded perfect and it did not disappoint! I love that place and I always order the same thing.
The Original - perfect combination of flavors! Is it bad that this photo is making me salivate??

- When I finished up there, I headed to World Market. I didn't realize they had re-opened and then Michelle posted that she had got some stuff from there. Probably a good thing that I have moved offices since it's literally across the street from where I used to work. I think I would need a 2nd job if I still worked over there!
- Sunday evening hubby didn't work so we went to Target and picked up the camcorder that I found on Friday. I used my 10% off remaining items on gift registry, plus a gift card I got from co-workers and my 5% off for the Redcard. I'm very happy with our camcorder and we got it at a great price! I'm excited to video so many special moments and really excited to have her homecoming and the monkeys meeting her for the first time on video.

-We also picked up a movie to watch. We got What to Expect When Expecting. It started out a little slow, but overall we both thought it was hilarious and seemed fitting since we're nearing the end of pregnancy!

Monday:
-Hubby had to work all day long, so I was on my own! I had big plans to clean the house from top to bottom and that I did. Nesting kicked into high gear! I cleaned and scrubbed and dusted and probably over-worked myself, but I am happy to have the house in order before baby is here and we have friends/family visiting.
-I met up with Kelly for dinner at Which Which, a new sandwich place in Savage. It's a new spin on a sandwich place and it was pretty tasty. I got an Italian sandwich (the Grinder) and Kelly got the Thank You Turkey sandwich (with stuffing and cranberries on it!) and my hubby is super jealous of her sandwich choice! He was asking all about it last night and then again this morning. I think I see him going there sometime soon :) Kelly was so incredibly nice and spoiled little baby girl with some clothes and adorable hair clips. I'm so excited to get her dressed up in her new outfits!

So that's what I got up to. I'm really excited to see what happens in the next few days. My official due date is Sunday, Nov 18...we'll see if she comes early, late or on time. I tried bribing her to come out yesterday, but I guess she isn't easily sold on being spoiled as a bribe :)

No obligatory election post here!

Instead, the moment you've all been waiting for...Baby Thydean's Nursery pics! Ok, maybe I'm just happy that it's finally freakin' finished!

This is where baby girl will be spending her first few months until she (and we!) are ready to move her to her sweet little nursery.

What you see when you walk in the door

Picture of the closet (on the right when you walk in). That's a wet bag hanging on the left for all of her dirty cloth diapers (still really hoping that cloth diaper thing works out for us!) and a Vikings tutu hanging on the right. The memo board is recycled from the Gender Reveal party and it has some pics from our maternity photo shoot and my baby shower invite (elephant) hanging on it

Closer view of the crib/changing table. We were lucky enough that my parents generously offered to buy the crib/changing table and mattress! Don't be fooled, baby girl has been extremely spoiled by all of her immediate family (grandparents, aunts, uncles, great aunts/uncles, cousins). We are very, very thankful and fortunate!

Some of the pics above the crib (mirror turned chalkboard/pic of hubby/sweet song)

Closer view of the pic of my hubby above the crib (the hanging pic is actually cropped more, this is how I sent it to be printed). I have blurred out her name spelled in the blocks - you'll all know the name very soon :) I love this picture so much, I think my hubby looks so happy and there's the baby, him, me (with a much smaller tummy than I am sporting right now!) and right above his head the tree branches are forming a heart!

The other pics above the crib (elephant family/pic of me/chalkboard)

Comfy chair/ottoman in the corner (purchased off of craigslist), blanket on the back of the chair is the first thing we bought for the nursery and was supposed to be our inspiration for the colors of the nursery (didn't quite go that route, but I still like the blanket) and little poms hanging above it bought at Michaels (the mobile, if you will - also Chris's favorite thing to hang in the room or not)

Dresser is part of our bedroom set, but we don't use since our closet was awesomely stocked with a floor-to-ceiling, really nice closet organizer. The dresser was in our guest room before. Let me tell you that most of the drawers are plump full of clothes for the little girl, I'm pretty jealous of her wardrobe! The little rocking chair was a "free on the curb" pick-up that I painted (it's officially not quite done yet, but will be very soon). The storage containers in the corner were a sweet find at Aldi (of all places, 2 cubes for $6 and they match perfectly!). I already had the storage system from my dorm room days.

Excuse the fingerprints on the drawers...I bought these little chalkboard signs at Joann for like $2/4 pack. I like how it helps with the organization of the clothing. I'm attempting to make it as easy as possible for my husband to put stuff away in the right spot ;)

Cute lamp I found on clearance at Target for $6 (the shade was slightly bent, but I easily bent it back to the correct shape). I bought some TV trays to use as a small table. I've actually wanted to buy them for a while and it just gave me an excuse to buy them. Picture in frame from our maternity photo shoot and a little wood elephant tea light holder I already had.

Check out her closet! Lots of fun stuff for future use. The dresser is mine from my nursery. It doesn't have any clothes in it yet, but I"m sure it will get filled up in no time. I have everything to paint it white (with chevron stripes), but once again I ran out of time so it's in it's true form for now

Close-up of the cute little closet dividers I made. And yes, some of the clothes still have tags on them...

Some books (love the middle one, haha!) and animals on the dresser. The little lamp in the corner I got at Hobby Lobby. I saw it last spring while up north in a cute little boutique (before I knew baby was a girl). I wanted it so bad, but obviously it wouldn't be good for a boy nursery. When we were in Minot in July we hit up Hobby Lobby (like 5 times) and it was 50% off what I would've paid up north and I knew we were having a little girl by then. Good things happen to those who wait, I guess :)
And that's the nursery. I really like the way it turned out and feel like it's not too babyish (or at all!). We're feeling very ready to get this little girl to her new home (and out of her current one). This little girl is not letting me sleep and her kicks and movements are starting to get painful. I'm officially at that point where I would like to see her on the outside ;)

This Weekend I....

Linking up with Syndal and Sar today, grab the button and link up!

This weekend I relaxed on Friday night, it was a loooong day at work. I treated myself to a bath and then layed in bed watching my baby girl dance/roll/squirm around in my belly. It's so fascinating to me to watch her in there. I always wonder what she's up to.

This weekend I was not a "hunter's widow" but pretty much could've been. Husband had to work all.weekend.long. It stinks since we have some stuff we want to get done, but I know he dislikes working as much as he is right now even more than I dislike it. It's hard for me not get frustrated that we don't have any time together, but here's to hoping once baby is here we'll have some time (even if it is feeding, changing diapers and watching her sleep)!

This weekend I got together with my good friends Megan and Jen to get pedicures and snag some froyo on Saturday. It was a lot of fun and it was great to see Jen since she travels so much for work we hardly ever see her. Here's a picture of us (excuse the mess that is surrounding us...). More on this meet-up in a later post :)

Me, Megan and Jen

This weekend I met up with my s-i-l and niece for a second round of froyo (yep, that's twice in 1 day...I'm eating for 2 so the 2nd round was for Baby Girl - right?). My favorite froyo place was having a Girl's Night on Saturday where they had different vendors set-up for you to shop at. My s-i-l and I were roped into buying Norwex cleaning supplies. Pretty sad how excited I am to use these cleaning cloths (sign I'm getting old).

This weekend I finished up a lot of projects I had going on (post on my many Pinterest projects coming soon). It feels great to finally be seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. Nursery is pretty much finished, we just need to hang 2 pictures on the wall (hopefully tonight!) and then I can take pictures of the whole thing to share here.

Here's a sneak peak of the nursery I posted on Instagram, in case you missed it. Me and the pups relaxing and waiting for Baby Girl to arrive :) They're pretty excited about her (especially Oscar!)

This weekend I packed lots of stuff for me and baby to bring to the hospital. Husband is on his own in the packing department. He doesn't like to pack anything early (not even when we go on vacation, kind of drives me crazy sometimes). Me and baby are pretty much ready to go except the stuff that I can't pack yet. The puppy bag has been packed for about a week so they're all ready for their stay at grandma's house. It's finally sinking in that this baby really can come any day now! :)

This weekend I spent way too much money on candles! Bath and Bodyworks was having a sale and I had $10 off $30 coupon plus I got a coupon in the mail for Yankee Candle so naturally I had to go and buy candles at both places ;) I figured Christmas is coming (plus a gazillion birthdays) so I plan to use some of the stuff I got as presents/stocking stuffers for some peeps.

This weekend I slept in majorly on Saturday. It felt great and I think it was well-deserved. Sleep has been rare the last few weeks, so it was nice to not have much to do in the morning and take advantage of all the sleep I could possibly get. However, this morning I woke up at 3 and could not fall back asleep. I will be a tired girl tonight!

This weekend I chuckled at all of my friends' status updates on Facebook yesterday. It seems that babies don't understand the concept of daylight savings time. I know I will never probably be able to laugh about this again in the future, but it was pretty comical seeing the same post over and over again complaining about babies (or sometimes animals) not understanding to sleep in. Karma, please be nice to me in a year :)

I hope this day goes by fast so I can go home and relax finish the nursery so I can post the pics (finally!)

Happy Monday!
