Weekend Recap

Well, I'm trying...weekend recap from last weekend and we're coming into a new weekend...hmmm

Friday:
I got stuck working a little later than I planned to and was chatty with the daycare lady when I went to pick up Bailey, so we didn’t get home until after 6. B and I had dinner and then played and read books for the remainder of the night. I think I fell asleep around 9 – it was a looooong week!

Saturday:
I woke up around 7 and meandered downstairs to do a little bit of work before everyone else was awake. Chris was working at 11, so we had a pretty low-key morning of playing and family time. Bailey went down for a nap around 10 and didn’t wake up until about 12:30. We had lunch and then headed out to run some errands.

Mama got to treat herself to a new vacuum!

I recently bought a couple of vacuums for my birthday (one for hardwood and one for the steps), so Chris wasn’t that thrilled when I asked if I could get another one. Our vacuum is about 5-6 years old and although it’s a good vacuum, I just feel like our house is constantly dusty (we also plan to get our vents cleaned this spring). I fell in love with the Shark Rotator via an infomercial a couple months ago. I’ve done some pretty extensive research and was convinced it was the one. I picked it up Saturday afternoon and that evening took it for a spin around the house. I was pretty shocked/disgusted when I saw how much dust was removed from our carpet. I had just vacuumed the weekend before and had taken the extra time to do a very good job.

After we ran some errands in the afternoon, we met up with Millie, Brad, Shayla, Connie, s-i-l Whitney and my niece and nephew to create our moss baskets at a local greenhouse, Pahl’s Market. We’ve done this for about 4 years now and it’s always something we all look forward to. It means spring is (hopefully) on its way. I brought Bailey with last year and carried her around in a baby carrier. This year was completely different. She was running around everywhere chasing after puppies and little boys pushing carts of finished baskets. She would squeal in delight when she saw a puppy or a cart. It was pretty damn cute J She also stuffed her face with cheese balls, m&ms and animal crackers while mama enjoyed some wine. We had a blast and I can’t wait to see how my basket turns out! We pick them up around Mother’s Day in May.

Seriously, could these pics be any cuter?? Epitome of joy and happiness! Thanks Whitney for the pics!!

When we were all done making our baskets we headed over to one of our favorite restaurants, Carbone’s in Lakeville, for some dinner. Chris and my b-i-l Josh met us over there. Chris and I enjoyed some yummy nachos, wings and beer – have I told you about the new diet I’m on?? Oh wait, I'm not - but really should beJ After dinner, we headed home to get settled in for the night (I spent about 45 minutes vacuuming everything and seeing how disgusting our house was). After Bailey went down around 8, we headed downstairs to watch the movie we picked up – The Internship. I hadn’t heard very good reviews, but we both love Owen and Vince so we thought we’d give it a shot. I was falling asleep about 30 minutes into the movie. We shut it off and I went to bed. Lame!

Sunday:
Bailey woke up pretty early, around 6:45. Chris wasn’t feeling very good, he caught the head cold Bailey and I had the week before, so I grabbed Bailey and headed downstairs. We made some lemon bars and got food prepped for lunch since my parents were stopping down. I made some yummy chicken empanadas for lunch.
via
I’ve never tried making them before and there is so much flavor in this recipe! I will say it’s a little bit of work making the little pockets, but I think it’s worth it. I also didn’t make the dough in the recipe, just used puff pastry and they turned out fantastic. I served mine with salsa, queso and salsa ranch – yum! I have some frozen at home that might make it to the dinner table later this week ;)

We hung out with my parents for a while and they brought us some yummy Chicago mix popcorn from Candyland – so good!  After they took off, Bailey went down for a nap and Chris went down and watched golf. I put another coat of paint on the desk I’m refinishing. I’m hoping one more coat after that and some touch-ups. I still need to stain the wood top. I’m excited for it to be done and getting it put together! Chris headed to work around 4.

I got brave and let Bailey take a stab at feeding herself yogurt for the first time. The doctor recommended we give her control when we were at Bailey’s 15 month appt. She also recommended chocolate pudding. Is she going to come to my house and clean that mess up?? We’ll go with yogurt ;) It was pretty comical watching Bailey. She was upset at first and then started enjoying it. She definitely has a lot of work ahead of her. The bites were pretty small and mama had to help out so we weren’t there until midnight.

After dinner, we headed to Home Depot to gather the remaining supplies for the desk project. There was a “fun cart” sitting there waiting to be used by Bailey and I. I typically use the “fun carts” when Chris is with, because they’re like steering a boat through the store but it was late and we were at Home Depot (opposed to a crowded Target) so we went for it. Bailey was pretty excited to have 2 steering wheels to control J

Once we got home and checked Instagram, I saw my little niece had some Red Carpet attire on for the Oscars. I’m not really an award show junkie, but I did have intentions to watch the Oscars since Ellen was hosting this year. I quickly threw Bailey in her pink dress from her birthday and chased her around until I got a couple of pics. My niece is obsessed with matching clothes to those around her, so I thought she would love seeing Bailey in a similar outfit to hers. I’m sure Bailey will be getting a lot of fashion tips from her cousin Claire in the future J

Such a little Diva!

Shortly after that, I got Bailey ready for bed and got in as many snuggles with her that I could. I truly hate Sunday evening purely for the fact that the weekend is over and I don’t get that amount of time with Bailey for a while L

The good news about a late recap: It's already the weekend! Hope you all have a great one!!

Weekend Recap

Wow, I don’t even know when the last time I did a recap of our weekend. This weekend really wasn’t anything special, but I’m trying to get back into the swing of things. Gotta start somewhere – right?

Friday:
Thank the sweet Lord that I’m able to work from home these days, because I ended up working from home on Friday. I woke up and got partially ready and then heard the horrible road conditions that we had from the snow storm that had been going for 12 hours. My boss gave me the ok to work from home. Bailey got to stay home, too so we didn’t have to venture out into the nasty snowy roads. Chris worked lunch and that evening, so it was just Bailey and I. I was able to get quite a bit done before she woke up for the day and Chris left for work, during her naps and while she watched cartoons and read books.
my two loves
accessorizing with mom's sandals
wait, maybe a headband will work better
my sweet baby girl - love her so much!
That evening was pretty low-key. I was starting to feel a little under the weather and after taking a bath (after B was down for the night), I ended up falling asleep in bed (around 9pm).  I’m so old!
I'm too cheap to pay $1.99 to have "picibooth" removed from my photos - so there you have it

Saturday:
I woke up bright and early and got quite a bit of cleaning done that I should have done Friday night. We had a birthday party at noon in Minnetonka. Bailey had lots of fun playing at Cambrie’s 4th birthday party! Bailey went down the slide by herself for the first time and we had a lot of fun watching her play with the big kids (and hovered constantly to make sure she didn’t get knocked over ;)) We hit up Popeye’s on the way home since we were “in the area”. We are sooo obsessed with this place. It’s our go-to when we visit Florida and now there’s some locations in MN. We were supposed to get one in Savage last spring, but something happened and we didn’t. I think it’s kind of a good thing – we would eat it way too often if it was down the street! Chris went to work Saturday evening and B and I hung out at home. I did a Zumba workout (really need to get back on track with those!!) and Bailey played in her little kitchen. Poor little peanut is teething hardcore, so there were quite a few snuggles mixed in, too J

These 2 are bound to be causing trouble at the cabin this summer - I can't wait!!

Sunday:
I’ve hardly been to the grocery store since we’ve been back from Florida. Chris has gone the few times that we needed to since the weather has been horrible and I don’t like to bring Bailey out in it if I can avoid it, plus we save money when Chris shops J I’m consider using Coborns Delivers – does anyone have experience with this? There’s a delivery fee, but I feel like me not going to the store will reduce the amount of crap I get distracted with and will probably save us money.

We hit up Costco and got a ton of fruit and veggies and then Target for some other essentials. I felt pretty proud when I got home and we had bought so many fruits and veggies that we didn’t have enough room in our 2 big drawers for them all. I’m really trying to get back on track with working out and eating healthy. After lunch, I made up a veggie tray to keep in the fridge and prepped our smoothies for the week. I feel so ahead of the game right now! I also created a list of healthy sweet and salty snacks to hang on the fridge. I’m so guilty of grabbing bad food that’s readily available and making a meal of it. I want to stop this horrible habit I have and take the thinking out of the process of deciding what I want when I’m hungry. If you have any favorites or suggestions - let me know, looking for ideas!

lots of fruits and veggies and meal prep done!
Super random list of stuff, but I'm hoping it will help

Speaking of healthy…later that afternoon, we met up with my friend Sarah and her daughter Amelia at Smash Burger. I’d never been and I won’t be dying to go back. It was decent, but nothing that knocked my socks off. It was great to see Sarah and Amelia, though! We hadn’t seen them since Bailey’s birthday party and Amelia is growing so much. She’s 8 months old and is cute as can be. I could just kiss her little cheeks all day if I had her with me! I hope we’ll be able to hang out more this spring and summer and do fun stuff like go to the zoo or park.

Ahem, Once upon a time there was a naughty little monkey....
Oh, let's read Winnie the Pooh instead
Bailey didn't display her best "sharing" behavior. All of these toys/books are Amelia's...Bailey helped herself
Sunday nights are pretty slow around here. Just getting stuff ready for the week and squeezing in as much snuggle time as I can with Bailey before the week starts. I sure do miss her the most on Mondays. She brings so much joy to my life, more than I could have ever imagined!

Hope you all had a good weekend!!

Bridal Showers/MN Bloggers/Sick Baby

This past weekend went so quickly (as they usually do)

Friday night Bailey and I went out to grab a few things from the store and then came home to settle in for an evening of playing and goofing off.

Saturday was busy, busy! I went to the mall bright and early so I could not deal with mall traffic. I had to pick up some stuff from Bath and Bodyworks for the big Blogger meet-up that night. I also swung by Old Navy to grab some cute stuff for myself. I used a gift card from Christmas and scored some great stuff on clearance! I headed home to get ready for a bridal shower I was going to that afternoon in New Prague which is about a half hour southwest of where I live. It was in a cute little coffee shop.

Tara thanking everyone and introducing the beautiful bridesmaids

I made some cute little gift tags that matched her shower invite.
Not gonna lie, I was pretty impressed with my self :)
After the shower, I called Chris to get directions to my next destination - Powderhorn Park - for our MN Blogger meet-up. Our theme for the party was "Favorite Things" and let me tell you, the ladies did an amazing job putting this together. We each brought 3 of our favorite thing ($5 was our budget/thing) and we would get to take home 3 of other people's things.
The loot of favorite things and an adorable sign that was made

This was my favorite thing - I ask for these lip
glosses every year for Christmas

I scored: Mini Eggs, lotion. lip stuff and a cute bag that
reminds me of an old friend - yes, please! Brought by Lindsey

I started panicking when I saw Jess post this on IG
I didn't have time to wrap my stuff! Luckily nobody
said anything ;) Inside was a cute coffee cup and
Lindt truffles - yum!

Kelly brought this fun pastel shirt with coordinating
nail polish and and adorable cloth bag - LOVE them!

All of the girls posing with the fun sign

After the party, some of the girls headed out to a bar in Calhoun Square and their hubby's were meeting them. I decided to stay and hang out for a while since my sweet Millie was watching Bailey I was able to enjoy a night out! Chris was working so he couldn't join us, but it was fun chatting with some of the other girls and meeting their husbands.

The "rosemary infused" margarita I ordered - it was disgusting,
but it made me not drink it quickly which was probably good ;)
Chris sent me a text around 9 saying he was done with work and picking up Bailey. That was my cue to get the tab and head home. I showed Chris all of my loot when I got home, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say he was jealous ;)

Sunday was spent around the house. I made a calendar of deep cleaning for our house where we clean a room/area. My goal is to be done by May 1. We started it really well, but have been getting behind. Chris tackled the laundry room while I worked on a few projects I had started and not completed (story of my life). Thank you hubby for your hard work!

I tried sewing an applique - I did decent around the
outside, the inside was difficult and I called it quits - haha!
My Sunday evening was spent with my monkeys and I lounging around. Bailey hadn't been feeling well all day so I let her get some rest.

She was laying on pillows/blankets in the living room and Kirby cuddled up with her
Kirby is wearing some of Oscar's hand-me-downs that we discovered in the laundry room - haha

This is the face I got when I told Bailey it was time to wake up
How do you say no to that (or not take a picture?)
MN Bloggers - I had such a fun time on Saturday. I think the next event should be in the planning stages immediately! Such a fun group of ladies!

This week needs to be over with ASAP and warm weather needs to show up like yesterday - so over the winter!

Weekend Recap

Another weekend here and gone...

Friday: Hubby worked all day and night so that left me and Bailey to do our own thing :) We went shopping at a few different places gathering some supplies for her big party on Saturday (Baptism after party). When I got home, I got to work prepping some food and decorating some cookies I made for her baptism. I kind of anticipated them turning out a little better than they did, but they tasted yummy so I guess that's probably what matters the most :)

Bailey woke up mid-cookie decorating and was pretty needy so I wasn't able to get a ton of other stuff done (which I really need to do!). Once Chris got home from work, he was able to watch her for a bit and then I started stashing our clutter in closets and drawers cleaning the house up. We all settled in for a bit of TV and then off to bed we went.

Saturday: I woke up around 4 since Bailey was moving around a little bit in her rocker (that is on my side of the bed) and she finally woke up at 5 needing to be fed. I went downstairs and fed her and knew she wasn't going back to sleep so I just stayed down there with her and cuddled. She finally fell asleep around 6 so I snuggled her some more and checked out pinterest and blogs. Around 7 I went upstairs and started getting ready since we needed to be leaving the house around 9. For some reason, no matter how much time I leave myself I'm pretty much always rushing out the door to be on time, which was the case Saturday morning. There were 36 kids baptized with Bailey on Saturday morning and around 300 people there - INSANE! I enjoyed the baptism, but honestly wish it would've been a bit smaller session, oh well. Here are some pics from the baptism.
She slept through class and the first part of the Baptism
Splish Splash! She woke up to the water being put on her head, but luckily didn't cry :)

After the baptism we had a little lunch at our place. I made chicken wild rice soup, a veggie tray, breadsticks, cookies and picked up some spiral deli things from the freezer section. Nothing fancy pants!

My precious little girl.
Side note - my mom didn't save a ton of my stuff from when I was a kid, but the little dress that Bailey is wearing was mine from when I was baptized. I'm happy that she saved that because it's a great thing to be able to re-use for my kid(s). And, of course, Bailey looked adorable in it :)

After the party was over, Bailey insisted that we change her into some Vikings gear! Chris and I had fun doing a little photo-op of her.
Direct quotes from when we were taking these pics
"I swear she is getting cuter by the second"
"We are so screwed, we won't ever be able to say no to her"

After the game was over, there was a little bit lot of this....
Poor Bailey (and daddy)

She was distraught for the rest of the evening and I think it even carried over to Sunday. Poor thing has a whole lot of this to look forward to growing up in MN. Maybe I should convince her to back a different team?? Nah, I'd probably be removed from my in-law's family and they're a pretty cool group of people :)

Sunday: One of my goals/resolutions for the New Year is to go to church once/month. We're more of the holiday church goers crowd. My hubby used to be much better at going to church and then we moved to Savage and his church was about 20 minutes away and I was not good at going with him. The church he/we go to is an amazing church and everyone I know that has gone there loves it! Chris asked if I wanted to go this morning and I said yes (keeping my goal in mind, which I had told him about the other day). I shouldn't even be surprised that the church was packed and overflowing with people. We were in the nose bleed section since we pretty much arrived at 11 (running late as usual). This church always incorporates fun elements into the sermon and today the pastor literally drove a Ferrari out on the stage. Here is my craptastic pic from the nose bleed section

Here is a better pic of what the car was
Pretty sure a lot of the men that were at service today were there to see the car, but they also heard a great message while they were there :)

After church we hit up Old Chicago and used one of our gift cards we have for there. Of course, we are still devastated over the loss of the nachos on there menu. Such a tragedy! When we got home, I took a little nap on the couch while Bailey and my hubby watched some more football. This evening, I was able to squeeze in a run on the treadmill while watching some shows on the DVR.

I had a great weekend and am so thankful that we go to see our family!
J and W thank you so much for being Bailey's godparents, she is so incredibly lucky to have you guys (and her cousins!) in her life!

                   LIFE IS GOOD!
