Baby Shower/Small Weekend Recap

This weekend went by way too fast. I was so busy with stuff, but that's ok. Chris and I are both going into mini-freak out mode knowing that there won't be many breaks until eternity....so, yeah.

Saturday we went to a breastfeeding/newborn care class. It was 4 hours, but it was so informative and I'm  really happy that Chris agreed (he didn't have much choice) to go with me. If I'm struggling with breastfeeding our little girl, I want him to understand and be able to help and comfort me. Newborn care was a great class for him to be at, as well. He doesn't have a ton of experience with kids and everything to expect from raising a little girl. We headed to Chipotle after class (little dolls swaddled brought burritos to both of our minds) and then home for a couple hour break. I met up with Millie, S-I-L and my niece to hit up MOA for some maternity shopping. I had a lot of success and found some super cute clothes there. We also grabbed dinner at Cadilac Ranch. It was a fun night! When I got home, my feet were killing me so I decided a bath was due. It felt amazing!

Sunday was Baby Thydean's big day! For some reason I was a tiny bit nervous for the shower, mainly because I don't handle being the center of attention very well. It really freaks me out. My S-I-L did such an amazing job decorating and finding games that were fun to play. I'm not generally a big fan of baby shower games, but I did enjoy the games we played! Here are some pics from the shower:

Loved these sunflowers, so pretty and fall colored (my fav color pallet)
Yummy egg bake

My mom and I before the shower
One of the games we played we had to hang up clothes on a line while holding our baby and talking on the phone. I'm not sure I will be holding our baby under my armpit, but times get tough with a newborn around :)

Millie showing us how much of a multi-tasker she can be, I think we'll hire her for a babysitter :)
This will be me in a couple months
After Laurie won, we decided to bring her husband in to see if he could beat her time
It's hard to tell if Andrew put in a complete effort or if it was just easier to let his competitive, pregnant wife take the win!
Watching the games

Presents! My oh my is our little baby girl spoiled! I still have not put things away, they have been moved to the nursery but that's about it.

Thank goodness I had my little Batman to help with all of the gifts - sooo cute!

Baby Girl's future partner in crime - the cutest, sweetest little girl!

Opening some presents

Alas, the time came to say our good-byes. My niece and her friend Cambrie

Great group of girlfriends - Tara, me, Megan and Jen (wish we would've taken this earlier to get our other friend Jen in the pic)

Me and Megan - she's due in Feb, can't wait to find out if it's boy or girl on Thursday!!

Millie, Me, S-I-L, and niece C

Me and S-I-L (the girl knows how to throw a great party!)

Laurie and I (she's been adopted into the family since her family isn't here) - she's due in January with another little boy

I can't thank all of my friends and family enough for showering Baby Thydean so much! It was a great day/weekend and makes us more excited to meet our little girl very soon!

Friday Letters

Today, I'm doing my first link up to Adventures of Newlyweds to play along in:

Dear Life slow down a little bit. I can't believe how fast the days/weeks/months are flying by right now. I'm happy, but feeling a little lot overwhelmed as of late.

Dear work elevator um...I'm really happy it wasn't me that got stuck in you tonight, but I really really feel so bad for my boss. See below message:
1.5 hours stuck in the elevator is never ok, but especially on a Friday night - poor thing!

Dear fellow MN Bloggers I had such a great time on Tuesday night when we all met up at the Paint Pub!! I'm sorry I haven't blogged about it yet. It's not you, it's me (see above comment about life being crazy lately)! Check out some recaps here. I can't wait for our next meet-up and chatting with you all more!!

Dear hubby thank you in advance for coming to the breastfeeding/newborn care classes tomorrow. I'm sure you will just have a fantastic time ;) We'll just call the iPhone 5 you got today your reward for being such a good sport about the whole thing!

Dear 3 hour glucose test next Tuesday that's right - I was supposed to take you last Friday (since I failed the 1 hour test). I showed up (starving) to my appointment at 8:15 and the receptionist hollers across the room that my appointment was actually on Thursday (the day before). What.the.eff! The lady that scheduled my appt verbally told me Friday, but wrote down and booked Thursday...awesome! I wasn't panicking about the test or anything. I left the doctor's office (after being super annoyed and probably rude to the receptionists re-booking my appt), called my husband, started crying on the phone to him out of frustration/stress/annoyance and then went to work where my boss saw me and gave me a hug after hearing my story. I also got a donut to help "ease the stress". I hope next Tuesday goes better, I don't think it can get much worse :(

Dear baby shower this weekend I'm so excited to see friends/family and open some gifts for baby Thydean. Thank you s-i-l for putting everything together for the party, means the world to me and baby!

Dear gazillion craft projects started and still thoughts in my head pins to my pinterest board I plan to really get some of you accomplished this weekend. I love pinterest (follow me here) and all of the great things I find on there, but man I just keeping finding more and more things I just have to do!

Hope you have a great weekend!

Week 30...a week late

I got some new clothes 9/8 and this is my favorite outfit - very fall looking
How far along? 30W 7D (at time picture was taken)
Size of Baby? Cabbage (15.7 in 2.75lbs)
Maternity clothes? Still mostly maternity, but I do try to force some non-maternity stuff still

Weight Gain? 16 pounds!

Sleep: Our bed is a fort these days...pillows and blankets are EVERYWHERE!

Best moment this week:  At the time I was 30 weeks preggers ie, last week - best moments were just having 3d/4d ultrasound done, seeing Chris's family a ton and going to the doctor for a routine check-up

Miss Anything? Eating turkey and my energy. I used to read other people's posts about missing turkey and thought it sounded weird..now I get it. I just want a freakin sandwich (with turkey)!

Movement: Baby Girl is still gettin' down in there and having lots of hiccups - like a few times a day

Food cravings: Cereal with milk, lots of sweets and fall food (soup, pasta, hearty breads, mac n cheese)

Anything making you queasy or sick: Still nothing

Gender: BABY GIRL

Labor Signs: None yet

Symptoms: Nothing really, just normal pregnancy stuff as far as I'm concerned

Belly Button in or out? Still in, but can look extremely weird sometimes. I think it's about to pop soon!

Mood: Crazy, worried (more on that later), happy, little stressed

Weekend Recap

This weekend was a lot of fun! Thursday night we went over to Millie's house to see Chris's grandpa and aunt who just arrived from Florida for a week and a half. It was so good to welcome them back to MN and visit with the family.

Friday night we got new 3d/4d ultrasound pics done. We had Chris's dad, mom, grandpa, aunt, sister and our niece and nephew join us for our appointment. My parents were supposed to come too, but they left for Florida Saturday morning and had some stuff to get done before they left. I was kind of bummed, but we had lots of family there to share the fun experience with us. I'll do a separate post with the pics, but I'll leave you with my all time favorite picture of our little baby girl.

pouty face Thydean, this will crack me up forever

After our appointment, we had everyone over to our place for pizza, salad and cupcakes. We all got to visit and play with the kiddos. Grandpa snuck 3 cupcakes, he has a little bit of a sweet tooth...can't blame him! My s-i-l got us this book.

Chris and I read it after everyone left and were laughing so hard...can't wait for sleepless nights :)

Saturday the guys all went to play golf and were gone for most of the afternoon. I got to go shopping and get myself some new clothes and a few Christmas presents for family. Then I headed over to my sister-in-law's house (a block away, so nice!) for a feast of all feasts. We were celebrating grandpa's 88th birthday! We ALWAYS have way more food than we need and this was no exception. There were crab legs, shrimp, chicken, salad, bread, baked potatoes, spanish rice, and amazing ice cream dessert. At one point there were 6 sticks of butter on the table for 8 adults. I indulged and later had a huge tummy ache from everything, but it was so worth it! Here are some pics my s-i-l took to recap the night.
See the middle pic, that's us with most of the food

Chris's grandpa is such an amazing guy. He is an inspiration for everyone in his family. So humble and kind. He started tearing up a few times while opening cards from his family. It was so sweet and you can just tell that he is grateful for everything he has in his life and doesn't take things for granted. Something we can all learn from!

Sunday morning we both slept in a little bit (finally!) and then did a little bit of work around the house. I had a huge list of stuff to get done, but only got about half of it accomplished - oh well! We went to a local park and brought the pups with. In a couple weeks my s-i-l will take a few maternity pics for us. I think I have a pretty good spot, hopefully the leaves will change a little by then.
Neither of the dogs would look at me...so typical!

After Chris left for work, I finished up some laundry and added a little wall decor to the nursery. I love elephants and thought this would be cute for hanging some mementos. Plus, I get to re-use the board from the gender reveal party - score!
Now, I have a date with the bathtub, my Kindle and hopefully some TLC for my little tootsies - definitely over due!

What the hey have I been up to?!

So, almost a month since my last post...time is flying by quickly these days! Between training new people at work, getting things ready for baby and a few trips to the cabin...this girl has been busy and exhausted!

Here's a small recap of what I've been up to:
Painting the nursery and getting stuff put together. Finally dropped the fabric off to the lady that's sewing it. Should get the finished product back in a couple weeks (I really hope!)

It actually looks different now than it does in these pics - the cubes aren't there anymore and we bought a rocker that isn't in these pics - final pics to come once bedding is back and pics are hanging on the wall

August 18 we headed up to the cabin all by ourselves - just us and the pups. First time and definitely not the last time we're doing that. It was relaxing and just what we both needed

Oscar strapped into this car seat - not really! I saw this online one day and thought it was hilarious (looks just like Osci)

We hauled the raft out into the middle of the lake and tied it to the pontoon. Us and the pups laid out here for about 2-3 hours talking and enjoying ourselves in the perfect weather!
Back at home:
My first curbside trash pick-up. I found this sitting on the curb at the end of our street. I've never stopped for anything before, but I thought once this is refinished it would be perfect for Baby Thydean

I still have to put another coat of white paint on it, but It's looking great so far. I'm planning to put her name on the upper back wood slat.

Chris's dad surprised us by getting our stroller/car seat for us. I'm pretty excited to have that here and ready to go.

Of course Oscar and Kirby were begging to take a ride in the stroller once it was put together

Labor Day weekend we headed back up to the cabin. There were less people there than usual since some of the family couldn't make it. It was sad the kiddos didn't have the other kids to play with, but it was still lots of fun!

Oscar loves to give Kirby (and every living being) lots of kisses

Kirby made himself comfortable in the sand

I also decided to volunteer as a member of the planning committee for a huge fundraiser we do at work every September.

Next week we have events going on every day and lots of really fun stuff planned. I didn't put myself out there too much since I didn't know how much time commitment was involved, but I did have a month full of meetings for planning and I coordinated for my department and another once to donate 2 silent auction baskets. I think they turned out great and am happy that I could get these put together for our teams.

Chocolate Lovers Basket. I got to spend $70 at a chocolate factory in Burnsville last Friday. I think it might be a bad thing this place is so close now that I know what's all inside. Yummy!!

Wine and Cheese basket. See those cute glasses? Hand painted by yours truly thanks to the wonderful world of Pinterest

Things I'm looking forward to coming up:
-Chris's grandpa and aunt will be arriving from Florida tomorrow. We have lots of stuff planned with them for the next few days
-Friday is Baby Thydean's 2nd 3d/4d ultrasound. There will be lots of family there with us to see our little girl moving around on the big screen. Can't wait!!
-MN Blogger meet up is scheduled for Sept 18...I really hope I can make it! Haven't committed to it yet
-My first baby shower is just a couple weeks away. I can't wait to celebrate with friends!
-Hopefully sometime this month we can find out the gender of our friends' baby. We just found out they're expecting in February and I'm sooooo happy for them!! I'm pulling for a girl so our little ones can hang out together :)
-We have a breastfeeding/newborn care class scheduled 9/22
-Shopping for fall maternity clothes with Millie (m-i-l, per her request this is what I call her now:)), s-i-l (silly?) and my niece on 9/22
-My s-i-l agreed to take some maternity photos for us. It should be interesting...I'm not doubting her abilities, I'm doubting Chris and I. My favorite quote from Chris last year when taking pics for our Christmas card "It feels weird when I smile." Good Luck Whit!!
