Weekend Recap

Well, I'm trying...weekend recap from last weekend and we're coming into a new weekend...hmmm

Friday:
I got stuck working a little later than I planned to and was chatty with the daycare lady when I went to pick up Bailey, so we didn’t get home until after 6. B and I had dinner and then played and read books for the remainder of the night. I think I fell asleep around 9 – it was a looooong week!

Saturday:
I woke up around 7 and meandered downstairs to do a little bit of work before everyone else was awake. Chris was working at 11, so we had a pretty low-key morning of playing and family time. Bailey went down for a nap around 10 and didn’t wake up until about 12:30. We had lunch and then headed out to run some errands.

Mama got to treat herself to a new vacuum!

I recently bought a couple of vacuums for my birthday (one for hardwood and one for the steps), so Chris wasn’t that thrilled when I asked if I could get another one. Our vacuum is about 5-6 years old and although it’s a good vacuum, I just feel like our house is constantly dusty (we also plan to get our vents cleaned this spring). I fell in love with the Shark Rotator via an infomercial a couple months ago. I’ve done some pretty extensive research and was convinced it was the one. I picked it up Saturday afternoon and that evening took it for a spin around the house. I was pretty shocked/disgusted when I saw how much dust was removed from our carpet. I had just vacuumed the weekend before and had taken the extra time to do a very good job.

After we ran some errands in the afternoon, we met up with Millie, Brad, Shayla, Connie, s-i-l Whitney and my niece and nephew to create our moss baskets at a local greenhouse, Pahl’s Market. We’ve done this for about 4 years now and it’s always something we all look forward to. It means spring is (hopefully) on its way. I brought Bailey with last year and carried her around in a baby carrier. This year was completely different. She was running around everywhere chasing after puppies and little boys pushing carts of finished baskets. She would squeal in delight when she saw a puppy or a cart. It was pretty damn cute J She also stuffed her face with cheese balls, m&ms and animal crackers while mama enjoyed some wine. We had a blast and I can’t wait to see how my basket turns out! We pick them up around Mother’s Day in May.

Seriously, could these pics be any cuter?? Epitome of joy and happiness! Thanks Whitney for the pics!!

When we were all done making our baskets we headed over to one of our favorite restaurants, Carbone’s in Lakeville, for some dinner. Chris and my b-i-l Josh met us over there. Chris and I enjoyed some yummy nachos, wings and beer – have I told you about the new diet I’m on?? Oh wait, I'm not - but really should beJ After dinner, we headed home to get settled in for the night (I spent about 45 minutes vacuuming everything and seeing how disgusting our house was). After Bailey went down around 8, we headed downstairs to watch the movie we picked up – The Internship. I hadn’t heard very good reviews, but we both love Owen and Vince so we thought we’d give it a shot. I was falling asleep about 30 minutes into the movie. We shut it off and I went to bed. Lame!

Sunday:
Bailey woke up pretty early, around 6:45. Chris wasn’t feeling very good, he caught the head cold Bailey and I had the week before, so I grabbed Bailey and headed downstairs. We made some lemon bars and got food prepped for lunch since my parents were stopping down. I made some yummy chicken empanadas for lunch.
via
I’ve never tried making them before and there is so much flavor in this recipe! I will say it’s a little bit of work making the little pockets, but I think it’s worth it. I also didn’t make the dough in the recipe, just used puff pastry and they turned out fantastic. I served mine with salsa, queso and salsa ranch – yum! I have some frozen at home that might make it to the dinner table later this week ;)

We hung out with my parents for a while and they brought us some yummy Chicago mix popcorn from Candyland – so good!  After they took off, Bailey went down for a nap and Chris went down and watched golf. I put another coat of paint on the desk I’m refinishing. I’m hoping one more coat after that and some touch-ups. I still need to stain the wood top. I’m excited for it to be done and getting it put together! Chris headed to work around 4.

I got brave and let Bailey take a stab at feeding herself yogurt for the first time. The doctor recommended we give her control when we were at Bailey’s 15 month appt. She also recommended chocolate pudding. Is she going to come to my house and clean that mess up?? We’ll go with yogurt ;) It was pretty comical watching Bailey. She was upset at first and then started enjoying it. She definitely has a lot of work ahead of her. The bites were pretty small and mama had to help out so we weren’t there until midnight.

After dinner, we headed to Home Depot to gather the remaining supplies for the desk project. There was a “fun cart” sitting there waiting to be used by Bailey and I. I typically use the “fun carts” when Chris is with, because they’re like steering a boat through the store but it was late and we were at Home Depot (opposed to a crowded Target) so we went for it. Bailey was pretty excited to have 2 steering wheels to control J

Once we got home and checked Instagram, I saw my little niece had some Red Carpet attire on for the Oscars. I’m not really an award show junkie, but I did have intentions to watch the Oscars since Ellen was hosting this year. I quickly threw Bailey in her pink dress from her birthday and chased her around until I got a couple of pics. My niece is obsessed with matching clothes to those around her, so I thought she would love seeing Bailey in a similar outfit to hers. I’m sure Bailey will be getting a lot of fashion tips from her cousin Claire in the future J

Such a little Diva!

Shortly after that, I got Bailey ready for bed and got in as many snuggles with her that I could. I truly hate Sunday evening purely for the fact that the weekend is over and I don’t get that amount of time with Bailey for a while L

The good news about a late recap: It's already the weekend! Hope you all have a great one!!

Bailey Rose 10 months old (on 9-15-13)

Here's what you've been up to this month:

We got apples for your 10 month photos and then made our first batch of applesauce. It sure was yummy!

We met up with some of our MN blogger friends and their kiddos in Eden Prairie. It was so much fun!! This was your first trip to the splash pad. It will be more fun as the years go by :)

Mommy and you made a solo trip to the cabin over Labor Day weekend. You managed to get sick at daycare and shared your germs with everyone (including mommy and daddy, cousins, grandparents, aunts and uncles). Daddy was sick right before Labor Day weekend and also forgot to take time off of work. So we went up to the cabin for a couple of days to hang out with cousins, aunt/uncle and nana and Brad.
Playing at mommy's work before heading to the cabin
Packed in and ready to head out!

We got there a day before your cousins - so nude pool time took place (for you, not mommy and nana)

After playing in the pool and having some yummy food - Mommy, Nana, Grandpa Brad and you all headed out on the pontoon for some evening fishing. You did soooo good while we were out for about an hour! And we were treated to a beautiful lake sunset!

The next day your cousins came and you showed them how you had learned how to say hiiiii and wave your hands in the air (pretty gosh darn cute)

You played in the lake and in the sand, you really loved it all! Besides when you fell face first into the sand, that wasn't fun for anyone :(

You and (almost) cousin Maylie enjoyed playing together quite a bit! She is 9 months older than you!

You and mommy slept in the loft the 2nd night there. I don't see this being our normal sleeping place, we'll stick with the camper when daddy is with us :)
yelling hiiii down to all of your cousins
You are such a goofball all the time! You love playing with doors swinging them open and shut and looking through the french doors that separate the office. Also, shoving paper in your mouth is another favorite!

You and mommy met Nana for mommy's night out at Shayla's new children's clothing store, CC & Mays. It was so much fun and the store is adorable!
You looked soooo cute in your jeans and shoes!
We also met up with blogger Kelly to check out a consignment sale in Lakeville. Here you are modeling some of your new stuff we got there! Pink fur boots, Elmer the elephant and a book about him. You also got some new clothes and toys :)

You love to watch videos on daddy's phone (they're all of you!). You giggle and just watch in awe.

We won a cute bear hat from fellow blogger Dawn's giveaway. The hat is a little big, but your head measures in the 70th percentile, so I wanted to get you one that would fit this year next. Mommy also got a new hat, and it's pretty darn awesome! You had a lot of fun modeling the hat for me - goofy girl!

We went on a few family walks. You were in such a great mood this day, I love your pretty smile!

You helped daddy cheer on the Vikings for their first game (on 9-15). Sadly they lost (happens all the time), you will learn this is normal

Doctor's Appointments: You had your 9 month appt on Aug 26 (we're using those stats since I don't think too much has changed)
Daycare: Still driving to Elko about 2-3 days/week. Sometimes daddy keeps you at home with him instead of taking you to daycare (less driving). Daddy is so sweet and often times does the drop-off and pick-up!
Sleeping: Still doing great! Usually down around 9 and up around 7:30/8

Clothing: Mostly wearing 6 months and still squeeze into some 3-6 clothes
Diapers: You are wearing size 2 diapers when you wear regular diapers. We've been putting you in an overnight disposable for night time sleeping with has made the leaks go away. This is our solution for now :)
Things you like: Saying hiiiii and waving your hands, climbing on your rocking chair, watching kids play, the water and splashing around, playing "fetch" with the puppies and watching them wrestle and play together
Mommy likes: when mommy talks and sings, when mommy comes home from work or picks you up at daycare, when mommy lets you climb up the stairs
Daddy likes: when daddy comes home from work, when daddy brings you to daycare (to see your friends!), when daddy reads to you, when daddy chases you around

Dear Bailey - I don't know how it's possible, but we fall in love with you more every single day!  We are so thankful that you are such a sweet and loving little girl.  Mommy and I constantly look at each other and shake our heads when you do ANOTHER thing that is adorable.  You fit in perfectly with us because you are a complete goofball.  You are growing up so quickly, and with each new thing you do I keep saying it can not get any better than this, and then it does :)  I love you so much sweetheart!

LOVE,
Daddy

Bailey Rose 9 months old (on 8-15-13)

I'm a little embarrassingly late on this, due to no time, re-considering my stance with blogging...and that's all I got.

Here's what you were up to when you were 9 months old:

Daddy participated in the Tough Mudder competition in WI, so we met him in Stillwater when he was finished for some nachos and Nacho Mamas and we explored the city for a bit before he got there and helped ourselves to some ice cream...it was hot out ;)

You love splashing in your pool and tubby time!! Mommy's little fish!

Daddy is very protective of you and makes sure you're safe at all times!!

Exhibit A
Daddy loves to read to you and you do a pretty good job of sitting through a (short) book

You're so helpful with the chores around the house. Someday we'll be paying you a pretty penny to do these things

Mommy and daddy sneak in as many snuggles with you as they can. We know these moments are limited and take full advantage of them when they happen

You love to hang out in your exercauser and watch TV, snack on some puffs and throw everything off the exercauser to watch it fall to the ground

We lowered your crib again! You are such a little monkey in there. You really do love your crib and you like to sit and play with your animals/little blankies in there.

You got a tooth! Your first tooth showed up on July 22 (the bottom left one). You only have 1 tooth right now, but you're the cutest 1 toothed little girl :)

You can climb up the stairs. We have 14 steps from the main level to the upstairs and you can climb them all without much of a break. This is one of your favorite things to do, you always go straight to the steps!

You hosted a lovely group of MN Bloggers at your house. We had some yummy food and played games. You did so well with the "strangers" here.

You celebrated your mama's 30th birthday. I remember being pregnant with you last year and going to Stillwater for the day and thinking about how this year would be different having you here with me. I had no idea what an absolutely precious gift you would be. It's truly indescribable how much joy and happiness you bring me every single day.

You went to the zoo again. Part of mom's birthday festivities
At the petting zoo

You also went to Lake Calhoun and walked rode all the way around the lake with mommy and daddy. We made a few pit stops so you could go swinging and dip your toes in the lake.

You participated in a "surprise party" that didn't quite go as planned for Mommy's birthday, but it was still fun to celebrate with friends and family!

Things you like: What don't you like? Seriously, you're the happiest baby I've ever met! You're rarely upset or crying and when you do, it's usually justified.
Mommy likes: when mommy sings and dances for/with you, you love to pull mommy's hair and necklaces and suck on them, bath time with mommy
Daddy likes: when daddy sings to you in the morning to wake you up, when daddy gets home from work, daddy cuddles, when daddy plays with you, daddy reading you books (especially "Daddy Cuddles")

Dear Bailey,
You've done it again. Each month (day) I don't think it's actually possible to love you anymore than I already do, and then you learn and do something that is ridiculously cute and I somehow find a way to love you even more. Unbelievable! There is no possible way to describe this feeling to anyone. Parenthood is an indescribable feeling until you are there and living it. We love you so much sweetheart!
