30 Day Blog Challenge - Day 12

Hello, I'm doing a 30 day blog challenge found here. Link up if you'd like to join!

Day 12: Share your goals you would like to accomplish in the next year

1. Get a new job...check! Start that next Monday, yippee!
2. Finish up projects around the house (basement complete, paint laundry, paint office, paint main floor bath, paint master bath)...yikes!
3. Get new plants for the front yard
4. Get a fence for our backyard
5. Run in an organized race...will check this off this coming Saturday. Chris and I are signed up for a 5k
6. Meet more of our neighbors, Chris and I both want to do this!
7. Get more involved in volunteering opportunities (I think my new job will enable me to do this)
8. Start doing more meal planning. Tried this last week and we loved it!
9. Don't let minor things bother me so much (it's ok that Chris has 20 bottles of Gatorade scattered throughout the pantry...)
10. Continue on my weight loss goal/plan. I got super excited when I lost 25 lbs last winter/spring and then kind of let the whole thing go. I would like to pick up where I left off and lose some more weight :)

That's all I can think of for now.

Day 9: Something you're afraid of

Well aside from all things creepy crawly, I would say my biggest fear is losing a loved one or dying myself. My husband, relatives, parents, brother, in-laws, friends, future children, nieces, nephews, pets are always on my mind! What would my life be like if I lost one of them. Not something I like to dwell on, but my crazy mind goes there. I especially don't like when my hubby has to work in bad (mainly winter) weather. I trust him driving (most of the time) but it's other drivers that I don't trust.

I will also think up situations when I could get in really bad car accident (mostly driving to and from work in crappy weather) and what I should do if the car next to me swerves into my lane. I also creep myself out at night when Chris is working late and I'm by myself. If I hear a noise in the house, I immediately think what I should do if there is a burglar in the house. And finally, if there is something (minor) wrong with me, I always think it's got to be the worse case scenario.

I know that I'm not the only person that dreams up this kind of stuff and when I think about random scenarios it just reminds me to be thankful for everything and everyone I have and how happy I am that they're still here with me :)

Day 9: Tell us about your special someone

I'm a very lucky lady to have snatched up my hubby, he is an incredible guy! We met November, 29 2005 through a mutual friend (aka Cupid). Pretty much inseparable ever since!

Newlyweds Dec 6 2009 - Captiva Island , FL
He LOVES golf and got me started playing - Mississippi Dunes - Fall 2008
He loves cheering on MN sports teams (bball, football, baseball)
He works HARD - he owns 2 businesses, works at a restaurant and a golf course. Most weeks he works 60 + hours.
I love him for all that he does for our little family!
He is goofy and puts up with me! Enjoying a fishbowl in Minot, ND - July 2011
He LOVES nachos!
Those are just a few reason for me to love this guy! There are many, many more!

Day 9: Tell us about your must watch TV shows

We have quite a few shows that we DVR and I'm soooo excited to get the new seasons going! These are in no particular order
We haven't seen all of the last season, so we're trying to catch re-runs over the summer!

This show is so hilarious and probably one of our favorites

Little bit of mystery
This show is pretty funny...can go a little far sometimes
These are my guilty pleasures...
Still liking the show, some episodes last year weren't that intense...

I only watch the OC - can't stand the other ones

I still like my Sunday night desperate, I just can't kick the habit!

Hey there, already behind on this....

Day 7: Tell us about your favorite vacation

Map
Cruise

My favorite vacation was when Chris and I went on a cruise together in February 2007. We had been dating just over a year and booked a cruise on Princess Cruise Line to go to the Eastern Caribbean. It was so much fun! I can't locate any of the pics from the cruise on our computer, but it was beautiful. We flew to Ft. Lauderdale and stayed the night in a hotel near the beach and then headed to board our cruise ship the next day. Lucky for me, Chris went a cruise the previous year with his mom, sister and brother-in-law (I was super jealous) so he kind of had an idea of what to expect and do on the cruise ship. We ate a ton, laid out in the sun, played mini golf (I had a few hole in ones), watched movies on the ship deck, went to the comedy club, ate, had lots of drinks (we brought a LOT of alcohol with us, we're thrifty), did some shopping, went on a catamaran, did scuba diving and ate some more.

I really hope that we can go on another cruise again. We upgraded to a balcony room and it was so worth the extra money. We didn't spend a ton of time out there, but we did go have a drink (or 3) out there each night.

30 Day Blog Challenge - Day 6

Day 6: Favorite Movies

Well, I'm a sucker for romantic comedies, animated and some action movies. The movie really needs to grab me from the beginning and keep it going or I fall asleep (this drives Chris crazy)

I've just always loved this movie - I like to watch it when I'm home and having a lazy day (mostly in the winter)

Probably the movie that Chris and I quote the most...so funny, love the cast!

All 3 movies always crack me up - they're so creative

30 Day Blog Challenge - Day 5

Hello, I'm doing a 30 day blog challenge found here. Link up if you'd like to join!

Day 5: Share a picture of something that makes you happy

Knowing that fall is just around the corner here, definitely makes me happy. I'm not happy about winter also being near, but there is just something about fall that I love. I love the colors (look at the color scheme in my house and you'll see), I love the crisp fall air, the flavors and scents of fall
Fall also means that we are closer to Thanksgiving which means that my brother and his family will be (hopefully) coming to visit soon. I love when they all come here and have dinner at my parent's house, maybe at my house this year if I'm feeling up to the challenge :)

After Thanksgiving means Christmas and lots of birthdays to celebrate!

30 Day Blog Challenge - Day 4

Hello, I'm doing a 30 day blog challenge found here. Link up if you'd like to join!

Day 4: Tell us about your family

My family is pretty awesome! I have 1 older brother who is married and has 3 kids (2 nephews and a niece). They live in Minot, ND so we don't see each other a ton. My husband has one younger sister who is married and has 2 kids (1 niece and 1 nephew). They live a street away and we see each other pretty often. You would think living that close together we would see them practically daily, but they have their busy schedules and my hubby works a lot at night. My parents live about 45 minutes from us (they moved when I graduated high school) and my hubby's parents both live within 20 minutes of us. It's nice that we're all pretty close together.

Here are some pics of the family.
Thanksgiving 2010 - hubby, me, mom, nephew (Cody), dad, bro, s-i-l, new baby niece (Leah) and my other nephew (Josh)

Here is one of my niece (Leah) and I this past July when we went to Minot to visit them - this pic cracked me up when I saw it the other day
my m-i-l and her dad (Bumpa). He lives in Florida and makes visits up to MN about twice a year - very special guy in this family!

s-i-l, her husband, my niece Claire and my nephew Max - yes, I stole this from FB (hope you don't mind :))

my f-i-l and Bumpa at our gift opening. And yes, that is Kirby passed out on Bumpa's knee :)
And last but not least
Kirby and Oscar in their new life jackets - they're our little monkeys

30 Day Blog Challenge - Day 3

Hello, I'm doing a 30 day blog challenge found here. Link up if you'd like to join!

Day 3: Tell us about your job

Ooooh, this is an exciting topic for me as of this past Monday.

I work for a large company in the accounting department. I have been at my current job for almost 3 years. It started out stressful since I was a temp-to-hire employee (1st time ever doing that) and people were dropping like flies in the department I was working in. I had no idea how long I would make it there. I finally got hired on permanently, 8 months later, and have been there ever since. I started to not like my current job about a year ago when my supervisor found a new position in another office within our company. The morale of the department went way down when she left, there was some work drama going on in our department and everyone wanted out. One little problem, there weren't many jobs available within the company...

Fast forward to a few weeks ago, when my previous supervisor notified me she was posting a job opening that would report to her. I immediately applied, had a phone interview last Tuesday, had a formal interview with her and 2 other managers there last Thursday and was officially offered the position last Friday! I was beyond excited! I celebrated HARD last Friday night. My hubby got a keg for a fantasy football draft we had at our house. I invited over some of my girlfriends and we had a great night. I was up until 5:30 in the morning, I have no idea when I did that last. It was so much fun, Saturday was not so much fun! That pretty much involved me laying in bed in agony all.day.long. Luckily, I had nothing I had to do that day...

Me doing my 1st (and probably last) keg stand
My new position is very exciting for me. I will be working for someone that I truly believe is a great manager. She motivates employees to do more, appreciates your work with praise, willing to give guidance on how to do something that maybe you've not done in a previous job and is overall a nice, kind, hard working person.

I have a LOT to do before I leave my current position. I don't want to leave anything for someone else to have to resolve. I have to train someone how to do my job since nobody knows how to use the current accounting system that I'm in. It will be a stressful few weeks to finish up my current job and then training for my new job.

30 Day Blog Challenge - Day 2

Hello, I'm doing a 30 day blog challenge found here. Link up if you'd like to join!

Day 2 is: Tell us about your blog

Well, I just started my blog this year in April. I had been following a few blogs that were hilarious and interesting and informative. I wanted to start my own, but didn't really know what to talk about. We don't do a ton of stuff around here - work and work - house projects - hang with friends and family and that's about it. Most people blog about their family (kids), a special interest they have (cooking, crafts, traveling). I just blog about whatever I'm thinking for the day or sometimes it's the week or any special event for the weekend.

I also like to talk about nachos on my blog, because they're delicious! My husband and I love nachos and like to eat them ALOT! I once started a spreadsheet documenting the different nachos that we'd had at different restaurants and the toppings involved. It was color coded and amazing. I had a lot of free time on my hands at my previous job and this is the "special project" that I came up with...I know you're jealous! My favorite place to get nachos around here is Old Chicago and my husband's is Carbones Pizza. I usually cave and go to Carbones, but Old Chicago's nachos are near and dear to my heart : )

Another thing you'll find me blogging about is our yorkies. They provide so much daily entertainment for us. We love them so much! I really can't imagine our life without them. My husband and I got married in Florida on the beach (almost) 2 years ago. There was conversation of our dogs (aka the monkeys) coming to Florida with us to be in the wedding. They would have been sporting little ties or possibly just some sort of hawaiian shirt. Our wedding was pretty low-key and a tie might have been over dressed for the occasion. l have a feeling they would have been there if the house we rented allowed dogs.

That's all I got for day 2, stay tuned for day 3 (Tell us about your job)

30 Day Blog Challenge - Day 1

Hello, I'm doing a 30 day blog challenge found here. Link up if you'd like to join!

Day 1 is Introduce yourself, so here it goes.

My name is Becky. I live in Savage, MN with my husband of almost 2 years (December 6) and our 2 yorkies Oscar (will be 5 in December) and Kirby (will be 3 in a couple weeks). We have a beautiful home that we love and have done a lot of updating and finished the basement last winter. I love to go to my mother-in-law's cabin (leaving tomorrow for the weekend), hang out with friends and family and recently have started to like baking and cooking new recipes.

I grew up in Minot, ND and moved away from there when I was 18 and went to college in Mankato, MN for 3 years and then transferred to the cities to finish my degree in Accounting (nerd). I really love living in Minnesota. I go back to Minot once or twice a year to visit my brother and his family.

I enjoy going for jogs with my husband. I grew up running long distance, but over the past winter I pushed myself to run further than I ever have (or imagined I would). I was running between 3 and 5 miles daily. It was great and I hope to one day run a half marathon.

My husband and I love nachos, hence the name of the blog. I don't think we're alone in our love of nachos. Pretty much everyone loves them, we're just more open about it :)

That's a little peak inside of my life. I can't give away too much info, I still have 29 more posts to go:)
